ProRoot MTA

Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (MTA) is a filling material that was developed due to its superior sealing qualities. MTA is a powder that is composed of many trioxides such as tricalcium silicate, tricalcium aluminate, tricalcium oxide and solicate oxide. These trioxides combine with other mineral hydrophilic particles and crystallize in the presence of moisture. The hydration of the powder results in a colloidal gel which hardens in less than three hours.

The advantages of MTA include its easy preparation and placement, being able to work in an environment that does not need to be completely dry and excellent sealing capabilities. MTA adapts well to surrounding dentin of the tooth preparation, and it has excellent tissue compatibility.

MTA has many uses in Endodontic. These uses include surgical retrofills, preparing apical barriers in teeth that have open apices, furcation and lateral perforation, and direct pulp capping in immature teeth.

Bio Pure MTAD

MTAD is a newly developed irrigating solution. This solution is a mixture of citric acid, doxycycline and Tween 80. Research has shown that MTAD is effective as a final rinse for removal of the smear layer, and will effectively reduce the amount of bacteria present before obturating. It has also been shown that MTAD is biocompatible and has minimal effects on dentin.
