For the Dental Professional
Advances in Technology
Surgical Microscopes
Our office is equipped with surgical microscopes in every operatory. The dental microscope significantly aids in locating canals by providing increased lighting and visibility. In addition, the microscope is invaluable when treating patients that need perforation repairs, removal of posts and when performing surgeries.
Intraosseous Anesthesia
Intraosseous anesthesia is defined by delivering anesthetic directly into the cancellous bone near the tooth to be anesthetized. This procedure is effective when trying to numb a patient with irreversible pulpitis in the lower mandible where cortical bone is very thick. Our office takes pride in being able to make patients comfortable for root canal treatment, and intraosseous anesthesia has greatly improved gaining total anesthesia.
Ultrasonics
The introduction of ultrasonics into endodontics has greatly aided in post removal, and in conservative dentin removal when trying to find small or calcified canals. The ultrasonic device is also effective for irrigating canals, as conventional irrigating techniques do not penetrate all small spaces. The enhanced cleaning ability of the ultrasonic device is caused by acoustic streaming, which is produces when freely vibrating the device in a canal with the irrigant. This is important in retreatment cases.
